South Dakota Deserves the Same Protections Other States Received
Large utility projects create opportunities that can benefit entire communities, but only when there are safeguards in place to ensure those opportunities stay local.
When similar utility mergers were reviewed in Montana and Nebraska, state regulators approved agreements that included commitments designed to benefit workers, communities, and ratepayers.
Without workforce protections and accountability measures, there is no guarantee that the work generated by this merger will go to South Dakota workers or contractors. There is also no guarantee that the jobs created will meet the wage, training, and safety standards that workers deserve.
If this merger is truly in the public interest, then the public should see meaningful commitments that benefit South Dakota workers, ratepayers, and communities—not just shareholders and corporate executives.
This hearing will help shape the future of jobs, wages, worker protections, and utility costs in South Dakota. Show up and make your voice heard.
Tell the Commission to put South Dakota first. South Dakota should not settle for less.
Join us in Pierre June 22, 2026 and stand with South Dakota workers, families, and communities. Together, we can send a clear message that South Dakota deserves a fair deal—and that workers should come before Wall Street.
